2010 Junior Golf Schedule--coming soon

Jr. Golf Program Rules

Junior Golf is open to members age 7 through high school.  Children ages 5 & 6 may play if accompanied by a parent.  Families with a Social Membership are also welcome to join the Junior Golf program.

3,6 or 9 Holes

Junior Golf is segregated into 3 levels of play.  Golfers choose whether they want to play 3, 6, or 9 holes each week.  Children 9 & under typically play 3 holes.  Children 10 & up must play at least 6 holes (they can play from either the red tees or cones set up in mid fairway.  It is up to each individual child to determine if they want to play 9 holes.

Friday Tee Times

Juniors must sign up by Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. each week if they plan to play that Friday.  Sign up sheets will be available on Friday morning (when regular junior golf is played) for the following week.  After that, you must call or stop in at the Pro shop to sign up. At that time Larry or someone at the Pro shop will schedule your tee time.  Final tee times will be posted on Thursday.  If you do not sign up by the deadline you will not be guaranteed a spot to play

If you sign up and cannot play, please contact the Pro shop to cancel.  A no-show is rude and a nuisance for the volunteers who run the program and score for golfers.  Also a tee time is just that, the time you are on the tee ready to play, not arriving at the golf course.  Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your tee time.

Lunches

The kitchen will be open to junior golfers for lunch. Lunch will be provided as part of the entry fee in 2010. For parents ordering from the menu, please keep in mind, the waitresses will be working hard to serve all the junior golfers and they should be tipped appropriately.

Children that wish to eat should come directly to the clubhouse after they have finished playing. Junior Golfers may not sit on the porch side of the clubhouse without a parent.  They also are not allowed to sit at the bar.  If your Junior Golfer is not eating lunch, please make arrangements for them to be picked up as soon as possible after they finish playing.  Juniors are not allowed to hang out in the restrooms, in the basement or run around the area outside of the Pro Shop and Clubhouse after playing.  Our Senior members are using the course and clubhouse after Junior day is over and we must respect their time and space just as we ask that they respect ours.  If you are not able to be with your children at Junior Golf, please make an extra effort to go over these rules with them.

Part of our program is learning to respect our course, Pro Shop, Clubhouse and other golfers.

Volunteers & Volunteer Training

Junior Golf is not possible without volunteers.  More than 100 Juniors play in the program and we need at least 25 volunteers each Friday!  Please become involved.  You are welcome to help every week and are strongly encouraged to score at least one time for each child you have in the program.  If you work and are unable to schedule a Friday off, please help us out by finding a grandparent, aunt, uncle, friend, etc. that could fill this obligation for you.  It is not fair to the volunteers that score every week for you not to do your part.

If you are new to the club and are not familiar with the rules and/golf course, please let us know.  We will go over the rules of play and tour the course so that volunteers will feel more comfortable.

Clinics

The first week of junior golf we have scheduled a clinic for NEW players and 3 holers.  This is set up so any new player can get instruction before they began the golf season.   Any new player can attend any of the clinics for additional instruction.  Please refer to the 2007  Junior Golf schedule for the 6 and 9 hole clinics.

Larry King will be available for these clinics.  After the clinic, the Junior Golfers can play a regular round of golf (3, 6 or 9 holes), if they have a volunteer to accompany them.   All Junior Golfers are encouraged to attend their clinics.  Believe it or not, there is a lot to be learned, even for the experienced golfer.

Juniors are not allowed to play instead of attending their clinic.

Golf Bags

Larry has requested that the Junior Golfers please set down their golf bags in the grassy area between the Pro Shop and the Cart Barn.  This will relieve the congestion around the Pro Shop.
